This paper focuses on the high rates of cervical cancer among the Indigenous population, specifically in Canada. The researchers use participatory action research to interview healthcare staff to identify ways to increase screening recruitment in First Nations communities in Northwest Ontario. Through these interviews, the paper demonstrates the value of a multi-level social ecological model to promote behavioural changes at the community, health care service and stakeholder, and decision-maker level.

This paper discusses the importance of patient and family engagement in the healthcare system. The authors feel that by increasing patient and family engagement it offers a pathway toward better quality health care, more efficient care, and improved population health. The article defines patient engagement and proposes a multidimensional framework for the development of interventions and policies that support patient and family engagement.

This article discusses the shift from disease-centred to person-centred care. With this shift there has been an emphasis on patient-reported outcomes and how it helps healthcare providers give better care as it addresses concerns that patients find the most bothersome. The article suggests that there needs to be an increase in number of cancer treatment sites that screen all patients for symptoms to standardize across the country.
