This article tries to determine the challenges to Pap smear screening as cervical cancer is a preventable disease. The incidence and mortality due to cervical cancer in low and middle income countries are directly related to lack of both screening programs and cancer treatment facilities. The paper exames the social ecology of cervical cancer.

This paper focuses on the high rates of cervical cancer among the Indigenous population, specifically in Canada. The researchers use participatory action research to interview healthcare staff to identify ways to increase screening recruitment in First Nations communities in Northwest Ontario. Through these interviews, the paper demonstrates the value of a multi-level social ecological model to promote behavioural changes at the community, health care service and stakeholder, and decision-maker level.

This article is a meta-analysis that tried to review and summarize the findings of multiple articles on the quality of preventive care invasive cervical cancer subjects received before diagnosis. It found that poor Pap screening frequency was the primary factor contributing to the development of invasive cervical cancer.
